Inspiration?

Yes yes, once school has started I have ceased to post with the regularity that I originally intended over this past summer. But what a summer it was! And I'll be back in San Francisco soon, for reasons undisclosed.

What a whirlwind of a semester. I ran a Career Fair, changed my life plans, and have begun working on revamping the way Sustainability@MIT runs all within a period of a month and a half. Things have been going pretty well, and sometimes it seems as though I can only pen formative, insightful thoughts when I am going through emotional turmoil (the first time I heard the word emo in high school, I thought it was a band).

For example:

Do as he does so you can be like him

Do as they do but be better than them

Do all the things that a man is supposed to do

Because that’s the only thing your mother taught to you

A man doesn’t ask for help from a girl

That would be breaking the rules of your world

A man’s there to comfort a woman in strife

So a husband’s supposed to parent his wife?

No one is supposed to listen to men cry

But you could not explain to me why.

And a man doesn’t dance, it’s weird when men sing,

To you, no gender should do everything.

Are those all the things a man is supposed to be?

Is that why you were so uncomfortable around me?

You told me you were uncomfortable

Is this making you uncomfortable yet?

Did you think that was something I’d forget?

Fabulous.

Just a little window into my head. Sometimes things are better left unsaid. Such a throwback.
